Project Overview

A conveyor gallery required extensive repairs. Rally was engaged to provide engineering and planning expertise for the repair work. Three gallery repair options were considered; a risk analysis was completed for each option’s total installed cost (TIC) estimate to quantify the potential for cost variability. The conveyor gallery was ultimately replaced in-kind but with corrosion mitigating upgrades.

Scope Definition

A design basis memorandum (DBM) evaluated three options for repairing the gallery. A capital cost estimate was produced for each option, enabling the Client to make an informed decision on how to proceed.

Detailed Deliverables

The Client ultimately decided to replace the original conveyor in-kind, but with upgraded materials. The new support structure was designed and fabricated from 304L stainless steel with FRP grating and cladding for greatly improved corrosion resistance.

Rally prepared construction work packages for all aspects of the civil / structural scope including piling, demolition, module fabrication and assembly, and other turnaround work.

Removal of the existing gallery and structure was planned for a brief two-week outage. The design and execution of the work leveraged off-site modular construction to shorten the overall turnaround window.

Rally provided turnaround planning support, on-site construction support, and related QA/QC services.
